Live sketching in store for Alice + Olivia

  • Currently I’m only offering virtual lessons. (In person lessons may be available to some NY & NJ locations upon request.)

  • Virtual lessons will be conducted over Googlemeet

  • I’ll draw in steps on screen with you as you follow along on your own paper. You’ll be able to ask as many questions as you wish. When it’s time for revisions you can hold up your drawing or email me your sketches as a file. Then we’ll review them together.

  • Each time we meet you can either choose to work on something specific or we can do a general lesson.

  • The one on one lessons are very interactive and you can control what we go over.

A little bit about me:

Illustration on tote bags for Bergdorf Goodman at their 2022 Holiday store event

I graduated with a BFA in Fashion Design from The Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC over a decade ago. I spent 4 years in the fashion design program and have learned a lot of tips and tricks I’m always happy to pass on. Since graduating I’ve worked as a designer for many different fashion brands and labels. My designs have appeared in Macys, in Lord and Taylor, on Betseyjohnson.com, and more. I now work as a fashion illustrator (and I continue to do freelance design when something fun comes up!) My fashion illustration clients include Gucci, Dior, Burberry, Eberjey, Givenchy, Sulwhasoo, and more.

No two fashion careers are the same. During the course of mine I’ve learned so many cool things and I’d love to share them with you!

Want more info? Fill out the form below and I’ll send you a response in a few business days!

Here’s what some of my students have asked to work on together:

  • Learning to draw a basic fashion figure

During the lessons I break down the figure into easy to follow along steps, and basic shapes.

Students follow along and share their progress during the video call so we can correct it together. (See one of the student’s sketches below, in 3 stages of corrections~ Look at the progress they made in 1 session!)

  • Rendering and coloring different fabrics and textures

During the lessons we can work with fabric swatches you’ve gathered for your collection, or from magazine tear sheets. We’ll break down different techniques for representing textures and fabrics in your illustrations, starting with how to choose the correct pose to display a garment, and how to shade and color different silhouettes and textiles.

  • How to turn a photo into a fashion sketch. Group lessons are available*

  • Breaking down garment construction to create an accurate fashion illustration

Seams, stitches, and construction are gone over in extensive detail, so that by the end of their sessions, the student is fully thinking like a 3-dimensional clothing designer.
